Happy Lughnasadh witchy friends! This is an easy alternative to Lughnasadh bread with a twist. We figured incorporating the beer into the bread was a perfect way to celebrate barley and wheat! We celebrated the first harvest by making a small feast with the beer bread, roasted root vegetables, corn on the cob, and drinking lots of beer!
Makes 1 loaf: Serves 10
Prep time: 5 minutes
Baking time: 55. minutes
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 teaspoons salt
1/4 c sugar
12 ounces light beer
2 table spoons vegan butter
Preheat oven to 375, butter a loaf pan to make it nonstick, set it aside. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar and pour in the beer. Whisk or stir until combined. Pour into loaf pan, cut the vegan butter into tiny slices, and place on top of the batter, bake for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting and enjoy.
*We ate ours with jam and vegan butter, if you aren’t vegan you can eat yours with honey, or add in herbs into the mixture. We also made a tiny loaf and put it on our altar!
